The Baldwin Park Greenway Is Now Open!

The Baldwin Park Greenway is officially open and ready for the community to enjoy! This 2.3-mile protected bike and pedestrian path runs along the east side of the San Gabriel River, connecting Ramona Boulevard in the north to Walnut Creek Nature Park and Baldwin Park Boulevard in the south. The Greenway provides a safe, fully separated route for cyclists, walkers, runners, wheelchair users, and motorized scooters.

Connecting Community and Nature

Designed with accessibility and safety in mind, the Greenway is completely separated from vehicle traffic and ADA-compliant. It provides convenient access to key destinations and job centers throughout the city, including the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center.

Residents and visitors can enjoy scenic views and a beautiful gateway into Walnut Creek Nature Park, making the Greenway both a transportation corridor and a recreational destination.

Looking Ahead

A future phase will create the Big Dalton Wash Trail Greenway, connecting Walnut Creek Nature Park to Hilda L. Solis Park through a new approximately 2.6-mile non-motorized trail. When complete, the project will form a five-mile network of connected pathways linking neighborhoods to parks and community destinations. Planned improvements, such as enhanced lighting and new pocket parks, will improve safety and usability while supporting environmental sustainability and expanding equitable access to open space for residents throughout the community.

About the Project

The Baldwin Park Greenway Project represents a long-term investment in connectivity, public health, and environmental stewardship in Baldwin Park. Years in the making, the project was delivered in two major phases that transformed an underutilized corridor along the San Gabriel River into a safe, accessible, and vibrant community asset.

Phase I | Fall 2023 - Phase I introduced the core 2.3-mile multi-use path, establishing a fully separated, ADA-accessible route along the San Gabriel River. This milestone created a safe, continuous north-to-south corridor for residents and visitors alike. By improving access between neighborhoods, parks, schools, and key destinations, the Greenway laid the foundation for a more connected and active community.

Phase II | February 2026 - Building on that foundation, Phase II elevated the corridor into a vibrant, community-focused public space. Enhancements included a new connection to Walnut Creek Nature Park, expanded landscaping, and the addition of thoughtful amenities such as benches, lighting, fencing, signage, water fountains, bicycle fix-it stations, trash receptacles, and modern irrigation systems.

Together, these phases reflect the City’s commitment to building infrastructure that promotes active transportation, enhances safety, supports sustainability, and fosters community pride. The Baldwin Park Greenway Project stands as a lasting investment in quality of life—designed to serve residents for generations to come.

Project Funders – The Baldwin park Greenway was made possible through the generous support and collocation of the following agencies.
