To provide law enforcement services in a fair and impartial manner in order to prevent crime and provide for the safety and welfare of the community.
Functions
The Police Department provides public safety through its police patrol service. Our motorcycles, and bicycle patrols allow us to respond quickly to emergency situations and give us the flexibility to act and prevent crime instead of merely reacting to crimes that have already occurred. The patrol function is supplemented by our highly specialized Detective Bureau, which conducts all follow-up investigations to reported crime. Our very active Community Relations Bureau, whose function is to increase the community's involvement in crime prevention and provide education in various aspects of public safety, conducts Neighborhood Watch and Business Watch meetings.
