Chief’s Message

Hello and welcome to the Baldwin Park Police Department website!  As you scroll through our website, I hope that you find it a helpful resource for information about the Department. I would like to note that we are currently making improvements to our website to help improve accessibility and information, so I ask for your understanding and patience.

thumbnail_chief picMy name is Robert López. I retired at the rank of Commander from the Los Angeles Police Department in 2018 after forty years of service. I was fortunate to have worked a variety of assignments, including patrol, gangs, homicide, administrative, patrol captain, and ultimately retiring as the Commanding Officer of Force Investigation Division.

I consider myself to be very fortunate to have been selected and given the distinct honor of being the Chief of Police for the Baldwin Park Police Department.

I have great respect for the men and women of our Department who work tirelessly to keep Baldwin Park residents safe. I want you to know that all Department personnel, from our officers, detectives, dispatchers, records clerks, traffic officers, to our administrative staff, are committed to helping make a difference for our great community.

As your Chief of Police, it is my mission to improve our service and the Department’s relationship with the Baldwin Park community. The Baldwin Park City Council has an exciting vision to improve our downtown area, in addition to adding and improving parks and greenspace. To this end, it is my goal to ensure that our Department has the resources needed to ensure a safe environment for visitors and residents that live, play, and work in Baldwin Park.

As I work toward this objective, I assure you that all our Department personnel will continue to adhere to and embrace our Mission Statement, which reads, “The members of the Baldwin Park Police Department are dedicated to providing the highest levels of service through partnerships that build trust, reduce crime, create a safe environment, and enhance the quality of life in our community.”

We are all committed to helping improve and enhance the quality of life for all our visitors and residents alike, as well as strengthening our partnership with our community. Working together, we can accomplish great things, and that is key to our combined success. In doing so, it will allow us to gain your trust, reduce the fear and incidence of crime, and foster a safe environment for all. Our work is difficult at times; however, without the support and help of our community, our task would be much more difficult.

In closing, I assure you that we are all dedicated to providing the Baldwin Park community with the highest quality of service, ensuring that it is done with steadfast integrity, dignity, and respect. As the Department continues to grow, we are committed to ensuring that our work force reflects our diverse community and that our officers are professional, educated, well-trained, and dedicated to the safety of our great community.

Respectfully,

Robert A. López, Chief of Police
