Community Relations
The Community Relations Bureau is responsible for implementing community outreach programs that promote the police department’s image in a positive way by communicating our mission to the community and members of our organization.

Detective Bureau
The Detective Bureau handles a wide variety of investigations ranging from burglaries and credit card fraud to elder abuse, kidnapping, and homicide.

Dispatch
The Baldwin Park Police Department Communications Center is the first line responder in emergency calls to the Police and Fire Departments.

Emergency Services
The City of Baldwin Park, Office of Emergency Services is supervised by an emergency services coordinator who is responsible for directing the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), coordinating the City’s response to any type of emergency, community education, public information, and training of city personnel.

Explorer Program
An explorer is a volunteer scout that participates in civilian observer ride-a-longs. He or she assists the police with searches for evidence; report writing, crime prevention, disaster assistance, crowd and traffic control, security at major events, and other challenging assignments, some of which help the Explorers earn money for their post.

Gang Activity Prevention (GAP)
The Baldwin Park Police Department recognizes the negative impact that gangs and graffiti have on a community.

Jail
The Baldwin Park Jail facility has 2 holding cells and a 16-bed capacity. The GEO Group Inc., a private correctional firm, operates the jail facility, under the oversight of a Police Lieutenant.

Patrol
The Baldwin Park Police Patrol Bureau is the largest and most visible detail of the police department.

Police Cadets
Cadets are part-time, uniformed employees who work in a variety of assignments within the Department such as Traffic, Records, Evidence, and Detectives, and they may be supervised by either sworn or non-sworn personnel.

Professional Standards
The Professional Standards Bureau provides a variety of services within the department and to the public.

Property & Evidence Unit
The Property and Evidence Unit is responsible for maintaining the integrity of evidence and chain of custody of all property that comes into their possession in accordance with state laws, city ordinances and departmental policies and procedures.

Records
Records Specialists perform a wide variety of detailed clerical work including typing, word processing, filing, fingerprinting, record keeping, public counter contact, telephones, matron duty, translating and entering restraining orders into a countrywide system.

Special Investigations Unit
The Baldwin Park Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is comprised of six detectives, three of which are assigned as Task Force Officers, and one sergeant.

SWAT / CNT
The Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) provides a group of highly trained and skilled officers that are utilized in instances where disciplined teamwork and specialized weapons and tactical skills are required to deal with and resolve law enforcement incidents that are high risk in nature. The Crisis Negotiations Team (CNT) operates in tandem with the SWAT team.
